Whiplash tells the story of an ambitious young drummer, Andrew, studying at an elite jazz conservatory in New York City, and his ruthless instructor, Fletcher, who pushes Andrew to the brink in the pursuit of greatness.

To the sound of an 18-piece jazz big band, including a world-class drummer and led by Justin Hurwitz, the composer, let yourself be carried away by the incredible music and thrilling drum solos performed in perfect synchronization with the film projected on the big screen!

Like Andrew, the drummer will have the difficult task of following every movement of the baton with total precision, the art of the cine-concert at its peak.

DAMIEN CHAZELLE

Damien Chazelle is a French-American director, screenwriter and producer. His filmography includes Whiplash (2014), La La Land (2016), First Man (2018) & Babylon (2022), all of which featured music composed by Justin Hurwitz. He has received numerous awards, including the Oscar® for Best Director for La La Land, making him the youngest person to receive this award at the age of 32.

JUSTIN HURWITZ

Justin Hurwitz graduated from Harvard University in 2008, where he studied music composition and orchestration. He has composed the music for all of Damien Chazelle’s films including Whiplash (2014), La La Land (2016), First Man (2018) & Babylon (2022), earning two Academy Awards®, four Golden Globes®, three Critics’ Choice Awards®, two GRAMMY Awards®, and a BAFTA®. Justin lives in Los Angeles.

GREYSON NEKRUTMAN

Greyson Nekrutman is an American drummer known for his versatility and energy. His explosive talent and deep musical knowledge have earned him an international following. In February 2024, he joined the iconic band Sepultura for their farewell tour, “Celebrating Life Through Death,” and remains a member of the band today.
At the same time, Greyson performs the music from the Oscar-winning film “Whiplash” on the “Whiplash in Concert” tour, led by composer Justin Hurwitz.
